Scott Carpenter graduated from North Carolina State in 1992. He has been married to Catherine Carpenter 12 years and they have two girls, Hannah and Maggie. Scott has been the Youth Minister at First Baptist since graduating from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1995.

"The key to this Youth Ministry is God's incredible work through lots of volunteers who are willing to invest in the lives of teens." Our High School Ministry is called " 2:42 ." Another 20 or 30 volunteers pitch in to minister to high school students each week. Many of these are teens on Student Minsitry Teams. They worship at 9:30 on Sunday mornings and have Bible Fellowship on Sunday mornings at 11:00. High schoolers also have Bible study on Wednesday night at 6:15. They also take part in mission projects, prayer and other fun activities.

The vision of the Youth Ministry at First Baptist Church Cumming is to encourage positive change and growth in the lives of teens and their families through teaching and living God's word and by establishing meaningful relationships with youth. We further seek to develop leaders to teach and model Christ likeness in the lives of students and to develop ministry opportunities that utilize the gifts and abilities of students and leaders in the development of mature members of Christ's kingdom.
